The reality
Every entry is a deadline, and the clock starts before the documents are complete.
An importer emails a commercial invoice with no country of origin and a packing list that doesn't match the bill of lading. Someone has to read it, request the missing field, classify the line down to the Chapter 99 tariff, calculate duty, and transmit the 7501 in ACE before release expires. Then a customs hold lands, a PGA exam gets flagged, and the same person is back on email coordinating documents while three other entries wait in the queue.
The work after release is worse. Liquidations get reviewed late, overpayments sit past the 180-day protest window, and drawback claims that were worth real money never get filed. None of it is hard in isolation. It is just constant, and the only lever anyone has ever had is hiring another licensed broker or another entry writer to absorb the volume.
